The best way to treat a
carpet pet stain is to act quikly. Do not wait for the stain to dry out. If you have a shop vac or paper towels use it to pick up as much of the urine as possible. I would recommend to call a professional but if that is not in your budget then there are many effective home remdies that will be effective.
This steps are for fresh urine accedents
not contaminated areas:
Soak up as much of the urine as possible with a combination of a shop vac and absorbent paper towels. The more fresh urine you can remove before it dries, especially from carpet, the less likely you will have an odor problem. After extracting as much as possible with the shop vac, place a thick layer of paper towels on the wet spot, and cover that with a thick layer of absorbent towels. If possible, put absorbent towels under the soiled area as well. Stand on this padding for about a minute. Remove the padding, and repeat the process until the area is barely damp.
Sponge the area with a solution of 1 teaspoon mild non-alkali detergent and 1 pint lukewarm water. Make sure to test the small area before applying.
Rinse and extract thoroughly with clean, luke warm water. After rinsing, remove as much of the water as possible by blotting and by using a wet vac. Use fans and keep humidity level below 40% to help dry the area out quicker.
